President William Ruto today opened the worldwide live broadcast of the 2025 Great Wildebeest Migration at the Masai Mara Game Reserve. The event was made possible through a partnership with China Media Group Africa.

Speaking from the famous wildlife park the President welcomed people from all over the world to watch this amazing moment in nature. Over one and a half million wildebeests along with zebras and gazelles are now moving across the Mara in search of food and safety.

“This is the biggest show in nature and we are proud to share it with the world” said President Ruto. “Thanks to our friends from China Media Group Africa people everywhere can now see the beauty of Magical Kenya.”

He said the animals’ journey shows not only the strength of nature but also the spirit of the Kenyan people. “These animals face many dangers but they keep going. That is also the story of Kenya. We face problems but we do not give up” he said.

The President also spoke about Kenya’s success in protecting wildlife. He said that in 1989 there were only 16000 elephants in Kenya. Now the number has grown to more than 36000. He said this happened because of good planning and the hard work of local communities.

He praised more than 160 community groups that help protect wild animals and their homes. “These groups are doing a great job. They protect not just animals but also jobs and culture” he said.

The Masai Mara welcomes over 400000 visitors every year. The President said the park is a great example of how tourism can help both nature and local people. He also thanked the Maasai community for their warm welcome and care for the land.

Last year 2.4 million people visited Kenya from other countries. President Ruto said this shows that many people trust Kenya as a safe and exciting place to visit.

He ended his speech by asking people around the world to visit Kenya and help protect nature. “Kenya is open and ready to welcome you” he said.

“Asante Sana. Xie Xie. Thank you.”
