Controversial city lawyer Guy Spencer is once again in the spotlight as a Nairobi court ordered him to take plea in a Sh100 million Karen land dispute.

Spencer Elms faces charges of forgery, uttering false documents, and attempting to acquire property left by the late British businessman Roger Robson.

The case is now closely watched after he reportedly ignored earlier summons, prompting the Director of Public Prosecutions and Attorney General to push for accountability.

The land at the centre of the dispute is claimed by businesswoman Agnes Kagure, who has long maintained her rightful ownership.

Court observers say this case may finally give her clarity after years of uncertainty. Many Kenyans are watching to see if the law will protect those who follow the rules.

This is not the first time Spencer has been involved in controversies. He was linked to the Anglo Leasing scandal, where phantom companies were awarded government contracts, and was questioned over the mismanagement of KSh21 billion meant for two Rift Valley dams. Investigators traced some funds to European companies associated with him.

He is also embroiled in a separate Kwale County dispute over a 53-acre beachfront estate in Msambweni, where questions over the authenticity of a disputed will have kept families and authorities on edge.

Spencer Elms remains out on personal bond, but the upcoming court session in Karen will be closely watched.

For many, it is a moment to see justice quietly take its course, and for those like Agnes Kagure, perhaps a long-awaited confirmation that honesty and rightful ownership still hold weight in the courts.
