Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr is in the news after winning a long court case against a woman who falsely claimed he was the father of her child.

The woman, identified as Victoria Ndunge Musyoki, has now been ordered by the court to pay the governor Sh15 million after DNA tests showed that Mutula was not the biological father.

The case, which started in 2016, dragged on for almost ten years. Ndunge had sued the governor, claiming he had abandoned her and their child. She asked the court to force him to pay for the child’s upkeep, education, and medical bills.

Court documents show that Mutula, who was then a senator, sent money to support the child because he believed he might be the father.

But after several delays and court sessions, he asked for a DNA test to settle the matter. The test results shocked many when they showed he was not the child’s father.

“The DNA results confirmed that the child was not sired by the defendant, Mutula Kilonzo Junior,” the court ruling read in part. The Milimani Children’s Court said the woman had lied to get money from the governor and ordered her to refund Sh15 million.

Ndunge was later arrested after failing to pay the money and was jailed at Lang’ata Women’s Prison.

While in custody, she agreed to sell her land to raise the Sh15 million and pay the governor. The court allowed her to be released under strict conditions to finalise the payment.

The case has now ended, with Mutula saying he is happy that the truth has finally come out. The ruling has attracted attention online, with many Kenyans praising the court for delivering justice after years of lies.
