Even before the dust of State House and Upper Hill meetings that saved him from an impeachment scare settles down, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja is once again in the political hot seat.
Ward representatives in Nairobi County Assembly have issued a fresh ultimatum to the embattled governor, demanding that he disclose the exact location of the controversial Nairobi Pay revenue collection servers and table certified bank statements showing daily inflows.

During a heated ICT Committee session chaired by Hospital Ward MCA Mark Ruyi, members dismissed the county’s declared revenue figures as unreliable.
Kayole Central MCA Jeremiah Themendu and Mathare North MCA Oscar Lore led the charge, accusing Sakaja’s administration of deliberately withholding crucial information.
The MCAs cited delayed staff salaries, auditors being denied access to the Nairobi Pay system for two years, and stalled investigations into possible revenue leakages.
The county had recently announced a record Ksh 13.7 billion in collections against a target of Ksh 20 billion—figures the ward representatives flatly rejected.

The standoff has ignited fresh scrutiny over financial transparency and accountability in Nairobi County, with MCAs warning that Sakaja risks another confrontation with the assembly if he fails to comply.
One MCA declared that this is not about politics but about accountability, insisting that Nairobi residents must know where their money is going.
The demands come barely two weeks after President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga brokered a political truce that rescued Sakaja from an impeachment motion.
With the county’s top leadership already under pressure from civil servants and auditors, the MCAs’ ultimatum threatens to plunge Nairobi into yet another governance crisis.
Analysts warn that unless Sakaja takes immediate steps to reassure the assembly and the public, the controversy could snowball into renewed calls for his removal.
