A man from hell has left a Kayole family shattered after he brutally stabbed his girlfriend to death—forcing her 11-year-old son to watch in horror.
Sharon Cate, 40, was murdered in cold blood on Tuesday night by her partner of two years, identified only as Sammy. The incident occurred following a domestic dispute at their home, and what unfolded has left the community stunned and grieving.
Armed with a kitchen knife, Sammy allegedly stabbed Sharon multiple times on the head, ignoring the cries of her young son, who stood by helplessly. “Alikuwa amedungwa visu mingi sana. Zaidi ya kumi kwa kichwa,” said Ann Wambui, Sharon’s heartbroken sister. “Na uchungu ni kuwa mtoto wake ndiye aliona yote.”
Esther Wambui, a close friend, learned of the murder through social media. “Hicho kitendo kiliniguza sana. Ukikosana na mtu, heri utoke tu. Hakuna mapenzi ya kukufisha,” she said tearfully.
Sharon’s other sister, Sarah, echoed the heartbreak: “Umemuua akiwa sawa, hata hakuwa mgonjwa. Amekufa kifo haikuwa chake.”
The boy, traumatized but brave, managed to escape and alert neighbours. By the time help arrived, Sammy had vanished.
Kayole OCPD John Awuoth confirmed police are pursuing the suspect. “Uchunguzi unaendelea. Mshukiwa bado hajapatikana,” he said, urging the public to report any leads.
The family now begins the painful journey of mourning, seeking answers and demanding justice. What was once a home filled with laughter has been reduced to silence and sorrow.
Sharon’s death adds to the growing list of domestic violence victims in Kenya lives lost at the hands of those meant to love them.
As the manhunt continues, Kenyans are left grappling with the chilling reminder that sometimes, the greatest danger lies within the home.
