Liz Jackson finally speaks as rumours spread linking her to the car involved in Cyrus Jirongo’s fatal crash

The death of former Lugari MP and cabinet minister Cyrus Jirongo in a road accident along the Nakuru–Nairobi Highway has shocked the nation and triggered widespread public discussion. Soon after the accident was reported, attention shifted from the tragedy itself to growing online speculation linking the late politician to media personality Liz Jackson, following claims about the vehicle involved in the crash.

Cyrus Jirongo was a well-known political figure whose career spanned many years in public service. His sudden passing left family members, friends, political allies, and ordinary Kenyans in mourning. As messages of condolence poured in, many people reflected on his role in Kenyan politics and the influence he had during his time as a Member of Parliament and cabinet minister. However, even as the country grieved, rumours began to emerge that threatened to distract from the seriousness of the loss.

The speculation started when social media users suggested that Jirongo might have been travelling in a car that Liz Jackson had previously showcased on her social media platforms months earlier.

Old photos and videos were reshared, with some users drawing conclusions without any confirmed evidence. These claims spread quickly, as often happens after high-profile incidents, especially when well-known personalities are mentioned.

At first, Liz Jackson chose not to respond publicly to the claims. Her silence became a talking point on its own, with online discussions growing more intense. Some people demanded answers, while others urged restraint and reminded the public that an investigation into the accident was still ongoing.

TUKO.co.ke later contacted Liz Jackson directly to seek clarification about whether the car involved in the accident belonged to her or whether she had any connection to Cyrus Jirongo on that matter.

At the time, she declined to give a clear response. This refusal to confirm or deny the claims kept the conversation alive, with speculation continuing across different platforms.

Liz eventually addressed the issue during a live phone interview with Milele FM’s Ankali Ray. In her remarks, she appeared focused on the human side of the tragedy rather than the rumours.

She stated that no one can be happy when another person loses their life and expressed discomfort at being linked to claims surrounding such a painful event. Her words suggested that the situation had taken an emotional toll on her.

Liz avoided confirming whether the car involved was hers or denying any direct involvement with the late politician. Instead, her response seemed aimed at asking the public to respect boundaries and allow space for mourning.  “Mnikome tu,” she signaled a desire to be left out of unverified claims during a sensitive time.
