Kenya National Examinations Council Releases Timetable for 2025 KCSE Exams

The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) has announced the official timetable for the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. The council has emphasized the importance of early preparation and adherence to the examination rules to ensure a smooth process.

According to Knec Chief Executive David Njeng’ere, the release of the timetable well in advance is intended to give students, teachers, and other stakeholders ample time to prepare. Written exams are scheduled to begin on October 21, 2025, and will run through November 21, 2025. Subjects like French, German, Arabic, and Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) will feature prominently alongside core subjects.

Practical examinations will commence on October 27, 2025, for subjects such as home science, agriculture, and various technical courses like building construction and electrical studies. These practicals will continue until December 31, 2025.

Knec has urged teachers to ensure that students are fully aware of the penalties for any form of examination malpractice. Candidates are required to be seated at their examination desks at least 15 minutes before the start of each paper. The first session of exams will start at 8:00 a.m., followed by the afternoon session at 2:00 p.m.

“Only in exceptional circumstances will candidates who arrive more than half an hour late be allowed into the examination room,” Njeng’ere cautioned. Any misconduct or disturbance during the exams will be treated as a serious irregularity, with severe consequences.

As preparations for the 2025 KCSE exams gain momentum, Knec continues to emphasize discipline, punctuality, and adherence to the set guidelines to uphold the integrity of the national examinations.
