Jeff Koinange corners Aden Duale over KSh 11 billion at SHA scandal

Citizen TV anchor Jeff Koinange sparked intense public debate after a recent interview with Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Jeff Koinange Live, where the two clashed over allegations that the Social Health Authority lost KSh 11 billion through fraud.

The interview quickly became one of the most discussed topics on Kenyan social media, drawing strong reactions from viewers across the country.

During the live broadcast, Koinange pressed Duale to explain what happened to the alleged missing funds.

He repeatedly asked for clear answers, stating that the matter had deeply shaken public trust in the Social Health Authority.

Jeff also questioned why Duale had not resigned, pointing out that in many countries, officials facing such serious allegations would step aside to allow investigations or even face legal action.

His tone was firm and persistent, reflecting the frustration many Kenyans feel about accountability in public offices.

Duale responded defensively, pushing back against the calls for resignation. He questioned where he was expected to resign to and insisted that he had valid reasons for remaining in office.

The Cabinet Secretary maintained that he was still in a position to fix problems within the health sector and address any fraud linked to the authority. However, his responses appeared to fuel more debate rather than calm public concern.

Soon after the interview aired, social media platforms were flooded with reactions. Some Kenyans praised Koinange for asking tough questions and standing his ground, saying he voiced what many citizens wanted to ask. Others focused on Duale’s tone, describing it as arrogant and dismissive.

There were also humorous posts, memes, and clips from the interview, alongside serious criticism questioning whether enough was being done to protect public funds.

The heated exchange came at a time when the Social Health Authority is already facing scrutiny.

Lawmakers and watchdog groups have raised concerns over alleged fraudulent claims and weaknesses in the system that may have allowed billions of shillings to be lost. Some Members of Parliament and critics have gone as far as calling for Duale’s resignation or impeachment, arguing that political responsibility must be taken.

Despite the criticism, Duale has continued to defend his leadership, saying he is committed to cleaning up the health sector and dealing firmly with fraud.
