Instagram introducing dislike button – Here’s how it works

Instagram is experimenting with a hidden dislike button for comments on Feed posts and Reels, aiming to improve engagement without public dislike counts.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri confirmed the test on Threads, stating, “This gives people a private way to signal they don’t feel good about a comment. There is no dislike count, nor will anyone know if you tap the button.”

Instagram may use the data to rank and filter comments, pushing disliked ones lower. However, with no transparency on dislike counts, questions remain about its impact on content visibility. The feature is still in testing, with no set launch date.
