Immaculate Kassait recounts son’s last moments

Immaculate Kassait, the wife of Tiaty MP William Kamket, has emotionally opened up about the painful final moments of their son, Bill Ballot Kassait Jnr, leaving many touched by her heartbreaking tribute.

Speaking during his mass at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, Don Bosco in Upper Hill, she described her son as a deeply faithful and loving boy whose loss has left the family shattered.

She said Ballot was more than just a son to her; he was her close companion, especially during Sunday mass, where he faithfully accompanied her. Kassait recalled that he had a rare devotion for a young boy and often stood out because of his strong Christian values and gentle nature.

The grieving mother also remembered the little things that made him special, from his morning knocks on her door asking whether she was ready, to his fascination with planes at Wilson Airport and his dream of becoming a pilot. She said he also had a love for Japan and enjoyed sending emails, describing him as curious, charming and impossible to ignore.

In the most painful part of her tribute, Kassait revealed her son’s last words before he was wheeled into the ICU were, Mum I love you. She further shared that a day before he died, the 14 year old had asked her if he would make it and whether he was dying, words that continue to haunt her.

The family said they are still struggling to come to terms with the tragic loss of a boy they believe was truly special.
