“I am straight” Police Officer Kimathi tells off CS Murkomen again

Police officer Hiram Kimathi has once again fired back at Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, telling him he is “straight” and not looking for attention, as Murkomen had claimed.

Kimathi has been in the spotlight after he openly opposed Murkomen’s “shoot-to-kill” order against violent protesters. After that, the government transferred him to the Kenya–Ethiopia border, but he refused to go and continued to speak out online.

On Sunday, Kimathi posted a strong message on social media, saying: “In the building, this is Hiram Kimathi. Kenya is my home and Meru is where I was born. Kipchumba, you said I want your attention? I am straight in everything, so I don’t fall in that group. I’m also morally straight and a Christian from the Methodist Church.”

Kimathi was replying to Murkomen, who had claimed that the officer was only speaking out to attract attention. But Kimathi stood his ground, saying he speaks out because he believes in doing the right thing.

His words have now gone viral, with many Kenyans supporting him for being bold and refusing to stay silent. Some people feel he is fighting for justice, while others say he should follow the rules of the police force.

Kimathi has strongly disagreed with any police orders that allow officers to harm or shoot citizens, even during protests. He says such actions are wrong and unfair.

The tension between Kimathi and Murkomen comes after President William Ruto recently said that police officers should shoot violent protesters in the leg to stop them from causing more damage. After the President’s remarks, Murkomen repeated the same message, saying officers had the right to use strong force.

That’s when Kimathi began to speak out, saying police should protect people, not hurt them.

Now, many are watching to see what happens next in this rare fight between a junior officer and a top government official.
