A fresh twist has emerged in the case of Juja MP George Koimburi’s alleged abduction, after police linked the incident to a farm said to belong to businessman Jimmy Wanjigi.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja on Tuesday revealed that the Ruiru Coffee Farm in Kiambu County believed to be owned by Wanjigi was mentioned as the spot where Koimburi was found lying helpless on the ground in a viral video. However, police say their investigations show that the farm does not match the location in the video.
“Officers visited the farm and checked everything carefully. When they compared the plants and roads with what was seen in the video, they realised the two places were not the same,” the police statement said.
The caretaker at the farm also told officers that he didn’t see anything strange or suspicious on the day Koimburi was allegedly dumped there.

At the same time, new information has come out showing that the MP was not found by a random person as earlier claimed. Instead, a woman who is said to be the first responder took him to hospital using his own car.
More confusion has come up after the hospital that first treated Koimburi failed to share details about the treatment he received. This has raised concerns on whether the MP was tortured or drugged.
IG Kanja said the investigation is still ongoing and that police will follow every clue, including checking forensic evidence, to find out what really happened.

Koimburi, who is now recovering at Karen Hospital, has remained silent, with opposition leaders like Rigathi Gachagua claiming he may have been attacked using a chemical that affected his ability to talk.
Police also reminded the public that Koimburi is facing charges over a land fraud case, and the DPP had already allowed his prosecution before his alleged abduction.
While Wanjigi has not been named as a suspect, the mention of his farm has added a new angle to the already mysterious story.
