Fernandes named Premier League Player of the Month

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for March.

Fernandes was instrumental in Manchester United’s results during the month, with the midfielder involved in all four goals the Red Devils scored.

The Portugal international netted a superb free-kick in the draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford, before an outstanding display as Ruben Amorim’s side eased past Leicester. He scored one and created two other goals in a 3-0 win over the struggling Foxes.

The 30-year-old has claimed the Player of the Month award for a fifth time. Only five players – Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah, Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Steven Gerrard – have won the award on more occasions. Fernandes has moved level with former Manchester United favourites Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie as a five-time winner.

Incredibly, it’s his first award since 2020, having claimed all four previous accolades in the same calendar year.
