Entrepreneur Nick Mararo Congratulates Learners on KCSE Results, Makes Case for Quality Education

Mr. Nick Mararo

Youthful entrepreneur and philanthropist Nick Mararo has congratulated the 2025 top achievers in the just-announced KCSE results and KJSEA learners transitioning to senior school.

Mararo extended his message of congratulations specifically to students in Nyeri County and the larger Mount Kenya region, commending their resilience in the face of the country’s evolving education landscape. He noted that learners from Nyeri have consistently shown strong academic discipline and urged them, along with their peers nationwide, to seize available opportunities with focus and ambition.

Mr. Mararo, also the C.E.O of Base Yetu, emphasized the importance of a 100% transition to senior schools and reiterated the need for quality technical and vocational institutes to prepare Kenya’s youth for the job market even beyond Kenya’s borders. He pointed out that modern economies reward skill, not just certificates, and urged government and private-sector partners to invest more aggressively in institutions that can produce industry-ready graduates.

He further underscored the role of vocational and technical institutions in solving unemployment, explaining that sectors such as construction, renewable energy, digital technology, automotive repairs, and manufacturing are constantly short of skilled workers. According to him, Kenya can close this gap by modernizing TVETs, aligning training with global standards, and ensuring learners get hands-on exposure through real industry placements.

Mararo also highlighted the ongoing empowerment programs he runs through Base Yetu, including youth business incubation, community sports initiatives, and digital training efforts. He noted that these programs, along with innovative solutions such as Lipalikes, his tech-driven platform promoting flexible and accessible payment systems, are designed to empower young people with practical tools for financial independence and self-employment. He described sports, technology, and entrepreneurship as the “triple-engine” that can uplift young people faster than traditional models have ever done.

On the political front, Nick Mararo is gearing up for the Nyeri Senatorial contest in the 2027 polls.
He has been positioning himself as a fresh, youthful alternative with a development-first approach, anchoring his message on economic empowerment, accountability in resource allocation, and modernizing county institutions. His push for education and youth-focused policies has already become a central part of his public narrative as he seeks to build momentum ahead of the election.
