The end of the 40th day for the two drug peddlers has come to an end.

This is after the National Police Service, in a statement on Tuesday, December 9, reported that public intelligence led to the capture of the two individuals in Bungoma.

Police said the operation was part of a wider effort to dismantle networks involved in the trafficking and distribution of illegal substances.

The officers noted that the move fits into ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and safeguard public safety across the county.

According to the National Police Service, the operation was triggered by tips shared by residents.

“Police in Bungoma have intensified efforts to disrupt the trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs within the region, as part of ongoing operations to safeguard public safety and curb substance abuse,” the NPS statement added.

The NPS added that officers from Bungoma Police Station carried out the raid under the supervision of the Sub-County Police Commander.

During the raid, the officers arrested two suspected drug dealers.

“During the operation, police arrested two suspected drug dealers and recovered approximately thirty rolls of cannabis, an unrolled bundle of cannabis sativa weighing about twelve kilograms, and 39,000 sticks of uncustomized cigarettes.”

The recovered items were immediately placed in safe custody.

The NPS explained that the contraband is being prepared for presentation in court as investigations continue.
