City tycoon Agnes Kagure has come out guns blazing to put her opponents in their designated places.
In a Facebook post, Kagure announced that she will roll out 2 million calendars across Nairobi, a symbolic countdown she says marks the final days of the current City Hall leadership and the beginning of a new chapter for the capital.

Her message, equal parts gratitude and resolve, struck a chord with many residents, particularly after her recent involvement with street families in Nairobi, an intervention that has propelled her into the national spotlight.

In her post, Kagure expressed humility after receiving appreciation from street families and their representative organisations following her support in burying nine of their colleagues who died under difficult circumstances.
“It’s not every day that those we support come back to say thank you. I’m very humbled by the appreciative gesture by street families and their representative organisations for our assistance with their recent burials, and the rehabilitation programmes we are putting in place,” she wrote.

Kagure noted that the initiative goes beyond burials, revealing that structured rehabilitation programmes are being developed to help affected families rebuild their lives with dignity.
She added that the remaining calendars will ensure that every Nairobi resident can “keep track of the countdown and days left before we liberate Nairobi”, ending her post with the Kiswahili phrase Ama namna gani?
Her hands-on approach has been widely praised, with many residents describing her actions as rare and refreshing in a city often weighed down by political rhetoric and unmet promises.
Momentum against City Hall
Lately, Kagure has become the talk of Nairobi and Kenya at large, with her critics and supporters alike acknowledging the impact of her solo decision to stand with street families at their most vulnerable moment.

Political observers view the calendar campaign as a calculated grassroots move that blends visibility with messaging, subtly positioning her as a viable alternative to incumbent Governor Johnson Sakaja.
While she has not officially launched her campaign, the symbolism of a citywide countdown has fuelled growing speculation that the Sakaja era at City Hall could be nearing its end.
Supporters argue that Kagure’s blend of philanthropy, organisation, and public engagement sets her apart, framing her as a leader who acts first and speaks later.

As the calendars begin to circulate, one thing is clear: Agnes Kagure has firmly inserted herself into Nairobi’s political conversation, and she shows no signs of slowing down.
